Where are the events held?
All of the events are held at "The Leen" a traditional farmhouse in North Herefordshire close to the village of Pembridge. The postal address is The Leen, Pembridge, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 9HN- satnavs should bring you to the door but signs will show the turning in from The Leen lane.
How many people can attend?
I can accommodate up to 8 people. I keep the numbers low to give everyone a more personal experience.
What is included in the price?
The price includes refreshments on arrival, the demonstration and lunch/supper with wine or soft drinks. Also included is a recipe pack to take home with you. There are no added extras on the day.
Can I buy a Gift Voucher?
Yes, I sell Gift Vouchers in any multiple of £10. Just contact me.
I have been given a Cook & Bake gift voucher can I use my voucher for any demonstration?
A valid gift voucher can be put towards the cost of any demonstration within their term of validity (2024 demos are £60 per person). Once redeemed they cannot be refunded.
How do I book and pay for an event?
Please call (07989 978319) or email Sarah Norman sarah@theleen.co.uk; you will then be sent a confirmation email and booking form, upon receipt of the booking form and deposit your booking will be made. Payment can be made via BACs or cheque and the balance on the day can be made via cash, cheque or BACs.
What if I book but then can’t make the day?
I will do my best to re-book you on another event or you can send someone in your place (do let me know this is happening). If neither of these options work then you will lose your deposit. If you suddenly find you can't come on the day I do ask for payment of the balance.
I regret we cannot refund deposits for confirmed bookings, but you can transfer to another class if you request it at least 14 days before the original date. If you can’t attend a booked class you’re welcome to send someone else in your place.
How will I know the event is going ahead?
Unless you hear from me then please assume the event is going ahead. If I do have to cancel within 48 hours due to an exceptional event e.g. natural or unavoidable catastrophes I will contact you to explain the circumstances and discuss the options for re-booking or if you prefer to have your deposit refunded.
What's your cancellation policy?
If I do have to cancel an event for whatever reason we bear no liability for any other costs you may have incurred.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No just bring your interest and enthusiasm for cooking and baking.
What do I wear?Anything goes, whatever you are going to be comfortable in. The kitchen can warm up so layers are always a good option.
Do you cater for special dietary needs?
Do contact me to discuss the options before you book - it may not be possible to accommodate all requests. During demonstrations I do try and highlight how recipes can be adapted for some needs.
I have an allergy - shall I tell you?Yes yes yes. You must tell me in advance as my preparation and events are in kitchens where Food Standards Agency listed allergens are stored and used so I am unable to guarantee there has been no cross contamination.
Do you offer bespoke days?
If you have a group who would like to attend a Cookery Demo outside of my advertised dates I will try to accommodate you for a bespoke day. Ideal for a family celebration, works party or team bonding exercise.

How many children can join? What age does my child need to be to attend Junior Cook & Bake cookery sessions?
We have set the age at 8-13 years old as we feel any younger children would not be able to achieve some of the skills we would like to show them. We want the children to be safe in the kitchen and so feel this age range will be more risk aware.
What is included in the price?
The price includes everything the child will need to complete the class. We will provide snacks and drinks during the session. There will be a recipe pack to take home and some of the foods that have been made (this will depend on the class completed).

We’ll do our best to re-book on another event or you can send someone in your place (do let us know this is happening as we will need a completed booking form for that child). If neither of these options work then you will lose your deposit. If you need to cancel on the day we would appreciate payment of the balance.
My child has been sick - can they still come along to an event?
If your child has been suffering from diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last 48 hours they should not join a class. You should contact us to discuss the option of another child coming along or re-booking to another class.
Covid 19 Protocols
Prior to each course we will review how it is run to reflect the latest Government on hygiene, social distancing and other measures to prevent transmission. We will keep windows and doors open (so make sure your child dresses up warmly).
Before joining a class all attendees (or their guardian) will be asked to confirm they have not had the onset of any COVID-19 symptoms or knowingly been in contact (or lives in a household) with anyone displaying symptoms or someone who has tested +ve or someone who has been asked to self isolate within the previous 14 days. Whilst we recognise this approach may be more onerous than government restrictions on self isolation , especially for the fully vaccinated, we ask that no one comes to a demo if they are unable to satisfy these conditions.
